Shoeing Lab Wooden Clogs are specifically designed so a horse can modify both the hoof and ground surfaces of these therapeutic shoes. This design is based on Dr. Mike Steward’s Wooden Clog™ and allows for all the mechanical advantages of The Wooden Clog™ concept is proving very effective in reducing pain reactive forces.
This unique design combination not only reduces leverage and shock while increasing a horse’s comfort but has the unique advantage of a heart bar or 3/4 sole plate to which a removable hospital plate is attached. This simple concept of easy functional modification is a major benefit to using the Shoeing Lab multi part clog system.
Shoeing Lab Clogs are easily applied with the base shoe being attached to the hoof with two screws and a hoof cast tape. The hospital Plate leverage reduction component is then simple added to the base with two screws.
As with all clog systems the Shoeing Lab Clog allows the horse to modify both the hoof and ground surface of the shoe for their comfort and aids in rehabilitation process of lamanitics by encouraging proper biomechanics.
Research has shown that the combination of wooden shoe and foot cast reduces the principle strain on the dorsal hoof wall and could be an important aid to reducing laminar distortion.
